The Return sizzle reel
Logline After the death of his grandfather, an African American man travels to Ghana for the first time with his Ghanaian-British girlfriend, where an unexpected journey forces him to confront grief, reconnect with his roots, and rediscover who he is. SYNOPSIS Following the loss of his grandfather, Dashaun feels lost. Emotionally adrift and disconnected from his roots, he struggles to find meaning in the life he once knew. When his girlfriend Stephanie invites him to accompany her to Ghana while she works on a project, he reluctantly agrees, unaware that the journey will change him forever. Arriving in Ghana for the first time, Dashaun is introduced to a world that feels both unfamiliar and deeply connected to his own story. Through new friendships, cultural discoveries, moments of laughter, and difficult truths, he begins to confront his grief and re-examine what identity, family, and belonging truly mean. As Dashaun’s connection to Ghana deepens, he and Stephanie must also navigate the evolving realities of their relationship, balancing personal ambition, love, and the challenges that come with growth and change. Set against the vibrant backdrop of contemporary Ghana, The Return Ticket is a heartfelt coming-of-age drama about love, loss, healing, and the search for home. Inspired by real experiences, the film explores the powerful connection between Africa and its diaspora, reminding us that sometimes the journey across the world is really a journey back to ourselves.
